Quasi-particle structure of even-even cerium isotopes in a self consistent approach

The rotational band structure of the neutron deficient even mass Cerium isotopes with neutron numbers 74 and 76 is investigated using the Projected Shell Model. For these isotopes, the band structures have been analyzed in terms of quasi-particles configurations. The yrast states are found to arise not only from single quasi-particle states but from multi quasi-particle states also. The phenomenon of back-bending in moment of inertia is also studied in the present work. The results obtained from the PSM calculations are also compared with the available experimental data and an excellent agreement is obtained between them.
