Estimating wear volume of polymer compound based on two dimension surface figure

The polymer compounds have characteristics of light mass and lubricate-self when they are applied in contact surface. Therefore, they are widely used in different engineering area. One of these applications is to transmiss yarn to textile in the multi-bar warp knitted machine. It is necessary to measure the wear volume of polymer compound in order to get accurate transmission when the wear appears in precision driving, however it is difficult to measure little wear volume by common measurement. The wear volume of polymer compound can be estimated through the characterization of the worn surface morphology of polymer compounds using fractal theory. This measurement can get an approximate wear volume that is useful to evaluate wear volume with a short test time. In test, it is 1600 hours by estimating in the multi-bar warp knitted machine before polymer compound wore out. In practice, the polymer compound did not wear out until 1790 hours.
