Portable Bathing System for Bedridden People

2021
A portable bathing system for bedridden people was designed to help facilitate the bath and to reduce the lack of privacy of such patients. This system comprises a cylindric stainless steel reservoir with an insulation of polyurethane foam, a rectangular low-density polyethylene board and a galvanized steel transport system. This system allows the reproduction of a conventional shower bath at a constant temperature, improving the bedridden hygiene, self-esteem and quality of life, while reducing the physical effort made by the caregiver. The modeling of the three components and the analysis of the transport system was done with Inventor® Software, obtaining for the transport system a maximum stress of 0.011 MPa and a maximum displacement of 3.438 × 10–6 mm, for an applied load of 200 kg. Since the displacement was relatively small, the system can withstand the load.
