SOCIAL FACTORS AFFECTING PERSONALITY DISORDERS

Introduction : A series of psychological disorders that lead to functional, social or occupational problems are personality disorders. It has been shown in various studies that the socioeconomic components are very effective on physical and mental health and its outcomes including quality of life. This study is a review article designed to explore and explain the role of social components on personality disorders. Method : The present study was a review study which keywords included personality disorder, socioeconomic status and social determinant The databases searched for were: domestic data (Iran), Scientific Information Database SIDs, Iranmedex, Magiran, Irandoc and MedLib, and four international databases including Medline, Pubmed, Scopus and Google scholar. Results : 15 related articles and documents were found that the most important findings based on 8 articles confirmed the relationship between low socioeconomic components with mental health disorder, antisocial personality and conduct disorder, borderline, schizotypal and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders. Conclusion : Strategies for preventing and controlling mental illness and reducing harm and crimes are not merely related to drug therapies and require serious and comprehensive solutions, especially non-medical determinants of health.
