When the air conditioner operates normally, the dust detection module detects concentrations of dust in the environment where the air conditioner is used and sends dust concentration values to the main control module; the main control module records operation durations under different dust concentrations according to the received values of the concentrations, detected by the dust detection module, of dust in the environment where the air conditioner is used, and the accumulated operation duration is calculated through conversion; when the accumulated operation duration of the air conditioner under the environments with different dust concentrations reaches to a threshold value, the display module prompts the user that the filter screen needs to be cleaned, so the dust accumulation condition of the filter screen can be displayed in time, the user can clean the filter screen in time through display of the air conditioner, and it is guaranteed that the air conditioner operates under the optimal state. Through the prompt method, the dust accumulation degree of dust on the filter screen under the operation environment of the air conditioner can be embodied more obviously.
