Decontamination and Disinfection

2018
Although lumpy skin disease (LSD) is mainly a vector-borne disease, transmission of lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) is likely to occur also via indirect contact with contaminated environment. Therefore, disinfection of cattle holdings, including both the premises and the environment, during and after an outbreak should be one of the priorities in controlling LSD. Decontamination is particularly important after a stamping-out measure, prior to introduction of the new cattle to the affected holding, regardless if the new animals are vaccinated or not.
