Block-level virtualization system for mass storage networks

2007
A block-level in-band storage virtualization system was developed for mass storage environments. The system uses continuous regions to organize virtual and physical disks, which effectively reduces the metadata space consumption. The system also implements target-mode virtualization functions to provide good compatibility and can work with multiple nodes to eliminate performance bottlenecks. The tests show that the system latency is within 0.6% than normal network disks, and its processing ability is only limited by the physical devices in the storage network.
