Synthesis of 1‐(Pyridyl, quinolyl, and isoquinolyl)azulenes by Reissert—Henze Type Reaction.

Heteroarylation of azulenes (I) and (IV) with N-oxides (II), promoted by Tf2O, affords the title compounds in low to moderate yields.
