Study on separation of o-xylene and acetic acid by distillation-crystallization hybrid process

2008
Distillation-crystallization hybrid separation process is a new separation technology, referring to vapor-liquild,solid-liquild equilibrium envelopes.Lately it is applied to separate binary systems such as azeotropes, eutectic or that their volatility are close.Based on the vapor-liquild,solid-liquild phase diagram for o-xylene and acetic acid binary system, combining with experiments,distillation-crystallization hybrid separation process proves that it can bypass the azeotropes in the vapor-liquild equilibrium space, and get pure products. The hybrid process offers a feasibility to separate binary azeotropes system.Experiments show the purity of acetic acid can reach 91%.
