Der Grazer Alterungstest : Der Dynamische Alterungstest von Papier und Karton

There is common agreement under those concerned, that all tests to predict the aging behaviour of paper and board, even those standardised are completely unsatisfactory. The considerations are discussed, which lead to a novel and dynamic test methode, corresponding with the reality. We present a new testing system to predict the aging of paper developed at the Technical University of Graz as a part of a doctor thesis. The results correlate in a surprising way with all phenomena we observe on truely old papers. Proposals are made to extent this dynamic test to predict aging behaviour to additional paper-grades and to standardise it internationaly.
