Dual-band Planner Slot antenna loaded with Split Ring Resonators for WLAN/Wi-Max Applications

Microstrip fed dual band planner slot antenna using split ring resonators (SRR) is proposed. Split ring resonator acting as a loading element introduces dual bands, which can be controlled by altering the number of rings and the space between them. Wideband is achieved at both resonating frequencies by using the circular shape of SRR and slot antenna. With satisfactory gain and radiation pattern the proposed antenna is suitable for lower range of WLAN and higher range of Wi-MAX and other broadband services. The design and optimization is carried out using CST Microwave Studio. Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) approach is used to verify the Double Negative properties of this structure.
