The Influence of Rare Earth on Microstructure and Performance of ZA40 Alloys

The microstructure,mechanics properties and wear resistance of mixed RE modified ZA40 alloy have been studied.Experimental results showed that proper amount of RE addition could promote grain refinement and inhibit the growth of eutectic silicon.With a 0.15% RE addition,the mechanics properties of ZA40 alloy significantly improved,the brittle fracture tensile cross-section turned to ductile-brittle mixed fracture,the dry wear resistance improved.
