The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of entrepreneurial leadership on innovative climate and innovative behavior. In addition, we attempt to verify the mediating effect of innovative climate on the relationships between entrepreneurial leadership and innovative behavior. While prior studies have usually tackled the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and innovative behavior, they have rarely examined the mediating effects of innovative climate on these relationships. To test the proposed hypotheses in our study, we collected data via a survey on data 225 employees in 5 R&D organizations, and after excluding unanswered items questionnaires, total of 166 employees data is used for analysis. The major findings are as follows: First, as predicted, a project leader's entrepreneurial leadership was positively associated with innovative behavior. Second, innovative climate has turned out to have a full mediation effect on the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and innovative behavior. thus providing evidence that entrepreneurial leaders are likely to exert their influence on followers by affecting their feelings of innovative climate. This result indicated that the effects of entrepreneurial leadership on followers’ innovative behavior are indirect, rather than direct, in that they are fully mediated by followers’ perception of innovative climate. That is, implying that one key factor that influences employee’s innovative behavior is entrepreneurial leadership. Based on these findings, implications of the research findings are discussed, and recommendations for future research are provided.
