Permutation polynomials and translation planes of even order

We describe two classes of permutation polynomials over finite fields F in characteristic 2 of the shape L(X)X where L(X) is an additive polynomial. Such polynomials determine translation planes of order |F |. We show that our polynomials define new classes of translation planes and we compute the automorphisms of these planes.
