The role of leisure as an indicator of overall satisfaction with community life

1984
ABSTRACTAn investigation was conducted which assessed residents' perceptions of the importance of and satisfaction with seven dimensions of community life. Further, their perception of overall satisfaction with community life was assessed. The seven dimensions were: health and safety, economic, environment, leisure, community involvement, public administration and formal education. The economic dimension was found to be the most important dimension while the leisure dimension was rated fifth in terms of importance. However, a regression analysis of residents' satisfaction with the seven dimensions revealed that the leisure dimension was the best predictor of overall community satisfaction.
