Effect of Soil Moisture on Pro,MDA and Root Activity of Peony

2012
The free proline(Pro) content, malondialdehyde(MDA) content and root activity of peony roots from a domestication Paeonia suffruticosa cultured under three different soil water contents(40%,60%,100%) were measured. The results show that the free proline of peony roots increased with the increase of soil water content while the root activity decreased with the increase of soil water content. However, MDA content first increased and then displayed a long downward trend. The results indicated that the domestication peony had submergence tolerance and showed resistance reaction under water stress.
