The invention provides a driving control method and device of a four-wheel electric vehicle. The driving control method comprises the following steps: the current driving mode of the four-wheel electric vehicle is determined, wherein the driving modes comprise a forced single-motor driving mode, a preferential single-motor driving mode and a four-wheel driving mode; if the current driving mode of the four-wheel electric vehicle is the forced single-motor driving mode, a whole-vehicle controller controls one motor to participate in driving, and the other motor is in a non-operating state; if the current driving mode of the four-wheel electric vehicle is the preferential single-motor driving mode, when the driving request torque does not exceed the torque of the rear motor, the whole-vehicle controller controls the rear motor to participate in driving, and the front motor is in the non-operating state; the front motor only participates in driving when the four-wheel electric vehicle sharply accelerates; if the current driving mode of the four-wheel electric vehicle is the four-wheel driving mode, the whole-wheel controller controls the front motor and the rear motor to participate in driving simultaneously, and the torque is distributed to the front motor and the rear motor according to the distribution of front loads and rear loads.
