A highly sensitive ethanol gas sensor based on mesoporous SnO2 fabricated from a facile double-surfactant template method

2015
Abstract Mesoporous SnO 2 nanostructures with the central pore sizes of 2.53 nm have been fabricated via a facile double-surfactant template method. The combined characterizations of X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Brunauer–Emmet–Teller (BET) confirmed the successful preparation of mesoporous SnO 2 . Gas sensing properties of mesoporous SnO 2 nanostructures for ethanol were also evaluated. Testing results showed that ethanol gas sensors fabricated from such mesoporous SnO 2 exhibited extremely high sensitivity of 5060–200 ppm ethanol at the operating temperature of 300 °C.
