An Approach to Children Surveillance with Sensor-Based Signals Using Complex Event Processing

2009
This paper proposed an approach toward children surveillance using complex event processing (CEP) with sensor-based signals. Through receiving event streaming extracted from sensor signals, the system could trigger some complex events for further decision based on real-time CEP engine with event processing language (EPL). In wireless sensor network (WSN), different categories of sensing data could be identified as a variety of events. While a complex event was composed of simple (atomic) events derived by different sensors, an intelligent decision system can be constructed incorporating CEP engine (i.e. multiple sensors fusion). Recently, campus security especially in children abduct has been regarded as a critical issue. Although the parents sent their children to the school by themselves, they did not still know what happened to their children in campus not to mention the fact that their children have been cutting class. Therefore, we try to build a sensor-based surveillance system to protect children from dangers.
