PRE-SERVICE CHEMISTRY TEACHERS ATTITUDES and CONCERNS TOWARDS TEACHING PROFESSION

The aim of this study is to examine attitudes and concerns of pre-service chemistry teachers towards teaching profession. The study is conducted with 30 pre-service chemistry teachers from two different universities in Ankara. Both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques were used to collect data. Data collection tools were open ended questions and qAttitude Scale Towards Teachingq. The findings indicated that there were no differences between pre-service teachers' attitudes in terms of gender. Score of University Entrance Exam (UEE), love for chemistry and love for teaching are the most used reasons for choosing teaching as a profession. Although pre-service chemistry teachers have positive attitude towards teaching profession, they have concerns about becoming a teacher in the future and KPSS.
