Concentration Distribution of PAHs in the Filter and Foam from the Air

2011
In order to compare the atmospheric concentration and distribution of polycycLic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the filter and foam from the air, air samples were collected from Aug. 5,2008 to Jul.29,2009. The GFF and PUF samples were Soxhlet extracted with dichloromethane (DCM), solvent mixture of acetone: hexane (1:1 v/v) for 24 h, respectively, and were analyzed by an Agilent 6890N GC coupled with Agilent 5973 mass spectrometer detector (GC/MS).Results showed that the average values of PAHs concentrations in the filters and foams were 12.951µg/L, 65.608µg/L respectively. The PAHs concentrations in the foams were higher than that in the filters (almost 5 times). The PAHs concentration distribution in the particles and gas-phase compounds was not aLike. The concentration distribution character of PAHs in the filter and foam from the air could be described as the following regression equation: Y=29.127Ln(x)-3.5732. Different sampLing methods would result in different outcome.
