A convenient method for the synthesis of peptide trisulfides

Symmetrical 3, unsymmetrical 1, and intramlecular 2, peptide trisulfides have been prepared in good yields by reacting linear cysteine-containing peptides with N,N′-thiobisphthalimide in a mixture of acetonitrile-water.
