Power unit for a motor vehicle, comprising at least the following components: - an internal combustion engine (12) having an output shaft (14), - a multiple-speed, manual transmission (24) having a transmission input and a transmission output shaft (20, 22) which are decoupled from each other, - a main clutch (18) that can bring the transmission input shaft (20) and the output shaft (14) in operative engagement, - a to the transmission input shaft (20) via an intermediate gear (32) operatively engageable electrical machine (26) and - a control unit (34) for controlling the electrical machine (26) and / or of the intermediate gear (32) during a shift in response to a predicted shift schedule of the transmission (24) as well as the operating parameters and the operating states of the components.
