Increasing the efficiency of using the natural gas potential energy in turbo-expander units for power generation

The paper discloses the problem of efficient utilization of the natural gas potential energy in gas pipeline pressure reduction points, or gas distribution stations, or gas flow control stations. Application of turbo-expanders for electric power production is a prospective method for utilization of the high pressure gas potential energy. The main problem of the turbo-expander facility introduction is their low efficiency and power. The efficiency of the gas potential energy transformation into electrical power may be improved by introduction of turbo-expander facilities into gas turbine blocks.
