The invention discloses a two-component polyester resin for extinction powder coating and a preparation method thereof, and the formula of the component A is as follows: 51 parts of pure terephthalic acid, 36 parts of neopentyl glycol, 0.05-0.2 parts of WA9800 catalyst, 5 parts of isophthalic acid, 3 parts of adipic acid, 0.2-0.5 parts of antioxidant, 0.05-0.2 parts of WA-248 additive and 4.7 parts of trimellitic anhydride; the formula of the component B is as follows: 51 parts of pure terephthalic acid, 36 parts of neopentyl glycol, 1 part of trimethylolpropane, 4 parts of isophthalic acid, 0.1-0.5 parts of WA9800 catalyst, 0.2-0.5 parts of antioxidant, 6 parts of isophthalic acid, 0.5-1 part of adipic acid and 0.05-0.2 parts of WA-248 additive. The component A/B polyester is respectively prepared into powder coatings which are uniformly mixed in accordance with different ratios, and the mixture is electrostatically sprayed and cured at high temperature so as to obtain the extinction coating with 5-50% of luster. The preparation method is simple and has obvious economic and social benefits.
