Performance Comparison of M-ary and CSK Spread Spectrum Communication over Deep-sea Vertical Channel

This paper is concerned with two classical modulation schemes of M-ary and CSK in spread spectrum technology, our treatment is focused on the communication performance of two schemes in the deep-sea vertical channel. We process long-term experimental data with sea-depth from 1207m to 3870m for three times, and present the deep-sea vertical channel properties such as the time-delay spread, the amplitude of the successive paths and the time-varying multipath structure. The influence of the deep-sea vertical channel on the communication performance of the two schemes is analyzed, their performance are compared based on the experimental data.
