A Policy Description and Its Execution Scheduling for Automated IT Systems Management

2012
In order to execute multiple policies in a policy-based automation system safely and efficiently, we propose and develop a concurrency control mechanism for policy-based automation systems. This mechanism analyzes the logical structure of the target application system to identify the IT resources affected by the policy action, and locks the resources to prevent conflicts between multiple policies. An efficient preemptive scheduling scheme for multiple policy executions is also developed. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
