Glucose Optical Fiber Sensor Based on Sol‐Gel Technique with Ruthenium (III) Chloride Hydrate and Glucose Oxidase Enzyme
2006
The design and characterization of glucose optical fiber sensor with glucose sensitive dye is described. We use Sol‐Gel technique and the sensor is preparated by dipping a plastic fiber into a mix of fused ortosilica block with ruthenium (III) and glucose oxidase. The surface charge and refractive index of the silica film varies and depends on glucose concentration, in consequence, the conditions of propagation of the light into the fiber optics change. These changes are captured by a photodetector and the measurement process was made in real time with Lab View acquisition card.
