Summary Histopathology of the allergic skin reaction in experimental erysipelas in the pig The allergic skin reaction in experimental erysipelas in the pig, in its time relations as well as in its macroscopic and histological features, has the typical characters of an allergy of the delayed type as seen in the tuberculin test, i. e. an allergic reaction transmitted by cells. The reaction can be specifically induced by a series of antigen preparations from Erysipelothrix insidiosa, among which the most suitable is an ultrasonic homogenate. The reaction develops slowly, reaching its peak 24 hours after the injection and is characterised histologically by perivascular infiltrates of lymphocytes, monocytes and histiocytes. Se desencadena especificamente por una serie de especialidades antigenicas de Erysipelothrix insidiosa, entre las que el producto homogenco ultrasonico es el mas apropiado. Zusammenfassung Die allergische Hautreaktion bei experimentellem Rotlauf des Schweines weist nach ihrem zeitlichen Ablauf sowie dem makroskopischen und histologischen Bild die typischen Merkmale der Allergie vom verzogerten Typ syn. Tuberkulintyp bzw. der zellvermittelten allergischen Reaktion auf. Sie wird spezifisch ausgelost durch eine Reihe von Antigenpraparaten aus Erysipelothrix insidiosa, unter denen das Ultraschallhomogenat am geeignetsten ist. Die Reaktion entwickelt sich langsam, erreicht um 24 Std. post inject, ihren Hohepunkt und ist histologisch durch perivaskulare Infiltrate aus Lymphozyten, Monozyten und Histiozyten charakterisiert.
