Affection of human papillomavirus infection on expression of p53 and hTERT in breast cancer

2007
To investigate the affection of human infection papillomavirus on expression of protein p53 and hTERT(human telomerase reverse transciptase)in breast cancer,we detected the expression of HPV-16, p53 and hTERT.Fifty-two samples of breast cancer and sixteen samples of benign breast tumor were assayed us- ing immunohistochemical SP method for detection of HPV-16,p53 and hTERT protein expression. The expression of HPV-16,p53 and hTERT was higher than that of the benign breast tumor group.Analysis showed that the ex- pression of p53 and hTERT was obviously correlated with the infection o f HPV16 in breast cancer(P<0.05). HPV might play an important role in carcinogenesis of breast cancer in Harbin. Its possible mechanism was as follows:the mutation of wild type p53 induced by HPV through unknown route promoted the expression of hTERT which induced the development of mammary cancer.
