Dissociative Fugue Disorder: Identification and Psychological Intervention

The effectiveness of supportive therapy with mindfulness based coping skills training in treatment of dissociative fugue is examined. To this end three cases of fugue are described. The diagnosis in all three cases was made using the patient’s clinical history, reconstruction of events related to patient’s digression and psychodiagnostic assessment. It was noted that skill-building interventions along with mindfulness training helped patients to cope with painful affect and recollections of the traumatic experience.
