Investigation of the Self-Consistency of the Smagorinsky Constant and the Value of the Rotta Parameter at High Reynolds Numbers

The aim of the first part of this work is to investigate if the value of the Kolmogorov constant, ±, predicted by LES is consistent with the assumed value of ± that was used to specify the Smagorinsky constant, C s, in the LES, and to determine the appropriate value of C s for decaying homogeneous turbulence at high Reynolds numbers. In the second part LES of axisymmetric decaying turbulence is used to calibrate the Rotta parameter, C 1, in the Rotta model for the slow pressure-strain rate.
