Calorimetric study of copolymers obtained by interchain exchange reaction of polybutyleneterephthalate with polyamides

1984
Abstract Differential scanning calorimetry was used to study the composition of products formed at different stages of exchange interaction of systems typical of interchain exchange: polybutylene terephthalate with polyamide-12 and polyamide-6 in melts with different ratios of initial components. It was shown that by the moment of homogenization of the melt copolymers formed as a result of interchain exchange are present, as well as initial homopolymers. The type of copolymer formed was analyzed using dependences of temperatures and heats of fusion and crystallization of reaction products on the composition of the initial mixture and reaction time. It was established that block copolymers are formed at the first stage of the reaction, which are then transformed into statistical copolymers; the time of forming statistical copolymers of final composition depends on the type and ratio of initial homopolymers.
