Investigation of the products of mechanical and thermal destruction of polyester methacrylates with a three-dimensional network structure

1. The ESR spectra of the macroradicals formed in the mechanical destruction of the polymerα, ω-dimethacrylate (diethylene glycol phthalate) (MDF-2) were investigated. In contrast to the linear analog PMMA, in the reticular polymer both types of radicals\( - CH_2 - \begin{array}{*{20}c} {\dot C} \\ | \\ {COO \sim } \\ \end{array} - (CH_3 ) and \sim \begin{array}{*{20}c} {CH_3 } \\ | \\ C \\ | \\ {COO \sim } \\ \end{array} - \dot CH_2 \), arising in the cleavage of C-C bonds of the basic chain of the macromolecules, can be registered. 2. On the basis of an analysis of the composition of the products of mechanical and thermal destruction, it was hypothesized that the destruction process in both cases is analogous and begins with cleavage of the most stressed C-C bonds of the basic chain, leading to depolymerization of the macromolecule.
