A non-contact measurement method of cabin capacity based on structured light vision

2016
Whether it is for ship design and manufacture, domestic and international trade of ship transportation, or to accurately judge the ship for further navigation, the accurate and fast measurement of cabin capacity are a crucial thing. This paper presents a method and system for non-contact measurement of cabin capacity. In this method, the line scan CCD camera is used to match the line structured light to scan the measured object, and then the image is processed to extract the feature points of the image. Based on the principle of optical triangulation, the 3D coordinates of the target points are calculated, and the cabin capacity and other information are fitted by the three-dimensional reconstruction technique. In addition, the system uses a new method to solve the problem of line scan camera calibration. The experimental results show that the measuring method and system proposed in this paper can achieve fast, accurate and non-contact measurement of cabin capacity, and improve the measuring efficiency, increase the measuring range of the system, while avoiding the object matching problem in stereo vision.
