RESECTION FOR LIVER METASTASES OF SMALL INTESTINE LEIOMYOSARCOMA IN A PATIENT SURGICALLY TREATED FOR TRIPLE MALIGNANT TUMOR 3 YEARS PREVIOUSLY

1995
We encountered a patient surgically treated for triple malignant tumor 3 years previously, and who later underwent radical left lobectomy for liver metastases from small intestine leiomyosarcoma. The patient is a 79-year-old man. The diagnosis after the first operation in 1991 was colon cancer, pelvic cancer and small intestine leiomyoma. In 1994 space occupying lesions were found in his liver. We performed a liver biopsy, and the lesions were diagnosed as metastases from leiomyosarcoma. The specimen from the first operation was therefore re-evaluated, and the first diagnosis of small intestine lesion was changed to leiomyosarcoma. This is the first case of triple malignant tumor (colon, pelvic cancer and leiomyosarcoma) reported in Japan.
