Company Secretary: Level the Playing Field: A Call for Action on Gender Parity in Australia

The ASX Corporate Governance Council rang in the New Year on a bright, new note. On January 1, 2011 new guidelines went into effect putting ASX-listed companies on notice on their performance on gender parity. Henceforth, companies will need to list their achievements against measurable gender objectives set by their boards. In addition, they will need to measure the proportion of women on the board, in senior management and in the employed ranks throughout the whole organisation.
