Treatment of non-collinear spin-structures in photo emission and X-ray absorption

2000
Many magnetic compounds possess a non-collinear spin-structure, i.e., the atomic magnetic moments may be oriented with respect to each other in an arbitrary way. When dealing with the electronic structure of such systems this situation can be accounted for in a straightforward way by using the relativistic multiple scattering theory for spin-polarized systems (SPR-KKR). The corresponding formalism is briefly outlined and its application to the studies of the photo emission and X-ray absorption is described. The results of calculations for UPdSn and hcp-Gd are presented.
