User's guide for the UNIRAM availability assessment methodology: Version 3. 0

1991
This User's Guide is intended to accompany Version 3.0 of a personal computer (PC) software package, UNIRAM, that is used to perform reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) analyses of power generation systems. The UNIRAM package was designed as a means of implementing the availability assessment methodology presented in EPRI Report AP-2202, Guide for the Assessment of the Availability of Gasification-Combined-Cycle Power Plants. The outputs of the programs in this package include predictions of plant availability, equivalent availability, forced outage rate, and equivalent forced outage rate. The package also provides several PC-based tools that can be used for further analysis of these outputs. This guide presents the steps needed to develop a model of a power production system for input to the UNIRAM software. These steps include developing block diagrams, identifying subsytems, and developing subsystem fault trees to represent the unit under study. The guide explains the operational procedures for the program modules used to create, manipulate, and analyze these system models, and describes each of the execution options available to the user. A sample output of each execution option is also presented. Appendixes to the guide document modeling parameters, limits, and restrictions. One Appendix provides a glossary of terms usedmore » throughout the guide.« less
