Preparation of self-modeling composite material and its selectively adsorptive property on crotonaldehyde in mainstream cigarette smoke

2014
Ethyl ether was introduced in hydrothermal synthesis process when mesoporous material was prepared. An emulsion system was formed to promote self-modeling. After adding zeolite fragments into synthetic system, series of self-modeling composite porous materials were prepared which named CTN/X(X=Na A, Na ZSM-5, Na Y). The adsorptive ability of these composite materials when used as cigarette filter additives was investigated. Crotonaldehyde in mainstream cigarette smoke was set to be target molecule. Results showed that emulsion system was beneficial for self-modeling. Specific surface area of CTN/Na Y reached 832 m2/g, and the most probable pore size of CTN/Na ZSM-5 was 4.3 nm. Compared with controls, cigarettes with filters added these composite materials exhibited excellent selectively adsorptive ability to crotonaldehyde in mainstream cigarette smoke, while nicotine and tar level in test cigarette smoke changed a little. When CTN/Na Y sample was used as filter additive, crotonaldehyde content in main stream cigarette smoke could be reduced by 30.4%.
