Soluble ST2 is promising in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease exclusion and therapy monitoring

2020
Soluble ST2(sST2) is a decoy receptor of interleukin-33 (IL-33), which binds to the later without exerting downstream regulation. The IL-33/ST2 axis regulates several systems, relieve or aggravate the diseases. Circulating sST2 can reflect the inflammatory response to a certain extent. sST2 can be used in prognosis, monitory curative monitory and risk stratification. Here we summarize recent researches of sST2 in clinical trials and progress and highlight the future direction of the sST2 detection. More efforts and contributions should be made by laboratory medicine practitioners and doctors for widely use of sST2 in patient management and treatment decisions. Key words: Interleukin; Biomarkers; Heart Failure; Prognosis
