Depression and the Influencing Factors Among Senior Middle School Students in Nantong

Objective To explore the prevalence of depression and the influencing factors among senior middle school students in Nantong,and to provide evidence for their mental health education and the counseling.Methods A total of 3 798 senior middle school students were investigated by using Beck Depression Inventory(BDI).Results The prevalence of depression was 25.5%.Logistic regression analysis revealed that depression was associated with family structure,peer relationship,family relationship,grade and type of school.Conclusion Improving the personal relationship and releasing study pressure can decrease the incidence of depression for senior middle school students.
