ABSTRACT The medium sub-deciduous forest of the state of Yucatan is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna that needs to be conserved and managed in a sustainable way. Currently, this type of forest is being reduced by the change of land use mainly due to anthropogenic activities. The objective of this work was to obtain the first records of wild mammals present in the Progresito Ejido, municipality of Peto, Yucatan, Mexico. Participatory diagnostics workshops were held. Transects were carried out in various points of the ejido for the registration of species through direct and indirect methods. In total, 16 species, 14 families and seven orders were recorded. The most diverse orders were Rodentia and Carnivora with five species each. The species Dasypus novemncinctus, Tamandua mexicana, Eira barbara and Dicotyles crassus were only recorded by social techniques. It is necessary to redouble conservation efforts for mammals in general, regardless of the protection status, it is necessary to implement management and conservation strategies.
