Selective vagotomy: a review of the anatomy and technique in 100 patients.
1970
The anatomy, as demonstrated at operation, has been studied in a series of 100 selective vagotomies. The existence of a considerable number of variations was confirmed. In 33 per cent there was more than one large anterior trunk, but multiple posterior trunks were noted in only 5 per cent. Additional small nerves on the lower oesophagus were reported in 47 per cent of cases. Other variations are described. A technique for selective vagotomy is presented.
