Visualization experiment of frequency dependent attenuation of tissue by multi-spectral Phase-Contrast Imaging

2017
The current pathologic diagnosis is very time consuming until results are known. In particular, pathological examination during surgery increases the burden on the patient because it needs to be examined microscopically after cell staining. Therefore, in the medical field, shortening of the operation time and reduction of the number of operations are required. In order to solve this problem, we are developing a puncture needle-type ultrasonic microscope system that enables real time definite diagnosis of tissue by endoscopic ultrasonic examination. We previously demonstrated an imaging method to determine the phase difference of the acoustic complex impedance. This imaging method is based on the phase contrast microscopy as a principle and makes it possible to observe cells without staining. To use this imaging method for pathological diagnosis, more information must be displayed in the image to make it possible to distinguish cancer tissue from normal tissue. As is well known, The acoustic characteristic...
