Conjugated all-carbon ladder polymers: Improved solubility and molecular weights

Algular poly[n]acenes possessing improved molecular weights (D p ca 20) and solubility have been synthesized using a multistep route (cyclization of suitably susbtituted open-chain precursors. The ladder polymer displays attractive optical propeties and can be used as the emissive layer in organic material-basec LED.
