Method for reducing the quantization noise in tandem in one system (10; 300) comprising a plurality of devices (30, 70; 350, 370) coupled in series, the method characterized by including the steps of: (a) determining areas (290) signal in which errors occur tandem noise for uniform quantization of the plurality of devices (30, 70; 350, 370); and (b) adjusting a characteristic of non-uniform quantization of at least one of the one or more devices (30; 350) of previous quantization in the system (10; 300) to reduce tandem noise arising therein from said zones certain signal, not including said one or more devices (30; 350) preceding a last quantizing device (70; 370) in series in the system (10; 300).
