The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for transmitting data in a multi-user wireless communication system, and more particularly, to an apparatus and a method for transmitting data in a multi-user wireless communication system that can enhance data transmission efficiency. The method for transmitting data in a multi-user wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: selecting a terminal simultaneously transmitting individual data to each terminal by predicting a channel status for each terminal through feedback information or sounding from the terminal; deciding a received signal to noise ratio (SINR) of the selected terminal, and calculating a precoding matrix; calculating a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) for each terminal and the number of symbols of a data field according to the MCS of each terminal; dividing the data field into areas according to the number of terminals for simultaneously transmitting the data field, when the number of selected terminals is two or more; recalculating the SINR for each area of each terminal, and resetting the MCS according to the recalculated SINR to thus configure and transmit a packet.
