Efficacy of Contrast-enhanced US and Magnetic Microbubbles Targeted to Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule–1 for Molecular Imaging of Atherosclerosis

Magnetic field–guided contrast-enhanced US molecular imaging with magnetic microbubbles targeted to endothelial vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 improves microbubble adherence in vitro and increases binding to atherosclerotic aortic plaques in vivo, resulting in improved detection of the early stages of atherosclerosis.
