Investigation on awareness of diabetic patients in diabetic retinopathy (DR) and influencing factors

2017
Objective To investigate the awareness of 2000 diabetic patients in diabetic retinopathy (DR) and influencing factors. Methods A self-designed questionnaire was made by the Qingdao Center Hospital ophthalmology and eye center of Peking University, using cross-sectional study method, from January 2015 to November 2015, 2000 cases of diabetic patients with diabetic retinopathy knowledge awareness and influence factors and influence degree were studied. Results The average score of "DR knowledge of respondents" of them were (35.10 ± 19.31). The highest score was 80 points, lowest score 20 points; Following an analysis of variance, four factors on ophthalmologists of knowledge awareness of DR was statistically significant (P <0.05), which were type of health care, diabetes duration, diabetic retinopathy in installment, whether or not training; Under multiple linear regression analysis, excluding confounding factors, only type of health care, diabetes duration, whether or not training affect ophthalmologist DR recognition: health care type of urban health care workers patients scored the highest, followed by the urban residents health care patients, the lowest score for the rural cooperative medical care patients (P <0.01); The longer the duration of diabetes, the higher the score (P <0.01); To attend training patients, the higher the score (P <0.01). Conclusions The diabetic retinopathy related knowledge of diabetic patients is poor. It is urgent to establish a formal, specialized knowledge training mechanisms for diabetic retinopathy, especially should focus on new diagnosed diabetic patients and rural remote areas of diabetic patients.
